CantoLX and the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc will be playing a baroque concert on Saturday 12 September 2020 at 20:00 at Saint Michael's Church in Luxembourg-ville.
The concert is organised by the Association Victor Hugo with the support of the Institut français and will see cantoLX and the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc, under the artistic direction of Frank Agsteribbe (organ), perform Joseph-Hector Fiocco and Pierre-Hercule Brehy's Missa pro defunctis under the title Flemish Requiem. Recorded in 2019 at et'cetera by cantoLX and the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc, the concert presents never before recorded nor edited works which also form part of an ambitious research programme studying the different aspects of urban musical life in the 18th century from the angle of social changes during the Enlightenment.
The concert features Véronique Nosbaum (soprano), Jonathan de Ceuster (countertenor), Peter de Laurentiis (tenor), Gunther Vandeven (bass) and the musicians of Chapelle Saint-Marc, conducted by Jean Halsdorf (cello).
Tickets for the concert cost €20. Seating is limited and reservation required via email: contact@ifluxembourg.lu.
The concert has been planned for a long time, with the decision eventually taken to go ahead with the event, in compliance with the health measures currently in force, to support artists and allow the public to reconnect with art and music.
