Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra;

The Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra will bring in the New Year with an event based on the Vienna New Year's Concert at the Mierscher Kulturhaus in Mersch on Sunday 12 January 2020 at 17:00.

Modelled on the world-famous New Year's concert by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra will bring a similar flair to the Mierscher Kulturhaus and present a cheerful and lively programme from the rich repertoire of the Strauss dynasty, Franz Lehár and their contemporaries. Orchestral works alternate with refreshing performances by Austrian mezzo-soprano Diana Kantner and Luxembourgish tenor Marc Dostert, under the direction of Martin Elmquist, Conductor of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Born in Vienna in 1993, Diana Kantner has been studying classical singing at the Saar University of Music with Prof. Ruth Ziesak since April 2015. She began her musical career at the age of eight in the children's choir of the Vienna State Opera. Since the beginning of her studies she has performed regularly as a soloist at several concerts and opera productions both inside and outside the university.

For his part, Marc Dostert studied at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He has regularly appeared as a soloist at trade fairs and concerts in Luxembourg and abroad. He has also held a professorship in singing and "chant d'ensemble" at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg since 2016. Since September 2013, Marc Dostert has been a member of the cathedral choir at Cathédrale Notre-Dame in Luxembourg.

The concert is organised in cooperation with the cultural commission of Mersch.

Tickets cost €24 (€10 reduced) and can be purchased via tel.: 470-8951 or from luxembourgticket.lu.
