Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation promoting the social and professional integration of disadvantaged people, has reported that it recently received a €100,000 donation from Rudi Sistermann.

The non-profit compared the generous donation to "something out of a fairtale", noting that Rudi Sistermann had wanted to learn about the non-profit's activities before meeting with Stëmm vun der Strooss Director Alexandra Oxacelay. During a short tour of the premises, noted the non-profit, the donor realised there was a "striking lack of space" and he expressed his desire to consistently support people in need.

Alexandra Oxacelay was touched by this show of solidarity and said: "In my 26 years of work, I've never felt like hugging someone so much. I can't thank you enough on behalf of all the people we welcome every day in our social restaurant in Hollerich."

This €100,000 donation will be used to finance a large part of the cost of repairing the extension to the Stëmm social restaurant at 68-70 Rue de Hollerich. This extension is expected to significantly relieve the flow of people using the dining room daily. The new space will serve as a reception centre and waiting room for beneficiaries who have made an appointment with a social worker, hairdresser or volunteer doctor. This also allow more people to be received in the restaurant, which currently exceeds the 450 meals per day mark, added the non-profit.

Stëmm vun der Strooss noted that this donation will ensure it can finance all the costs of the refurbishment, without a long lead time, so that it can respond quickly to the needs of those who are most in need.
