Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation which works for the social and professional integration of disadvantaged people, has reported that it is stepping up efforts to keep beneficiaries of its social restaurants in Luxembourg hydrated amid rising temperatures.
Since the beginning of the week, temperatures in Luxembourg have been on the rise again. In this context, Stëmm vun der Strooss has bought a stock of 800 water bottles to be distributed to the beneficiaries of its three social restaurants.
The non-profit noted that the entire population has been exposed to high temperatures over the last few weeks. However, for people living on the streets or suffering from addictions, the heat is often all the more dangerous as they have no shelter to protect themselves and it is more difficult for them to access clean drinking water.
Stëmm vun der Strooss stressed the importance of hydrating regularly. For this reason, beneficiaries are invited to pick up a drinking bottle at one of the non-profit's three social restaurants, open Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 16:30, in Luxembourg-Hollerich (7 Rue de la Fonderie, L-1531), Esch-sur-Alzette (21 Rue de l'Eglise, L-4106) and Ettelbruck (47 Rue Prince Henri, L-9047).
Inside the drinking bottles, they will find a special feature, as the educators of Stëmm vun der Strooss came up with the idea of inserting a map with the locations of all drinking water fountains on the territory of the City of Luxembourg.
Stëmm vun der Strooss expressed its gratitude to its partner Thalus Water in a Box, who donated a large quantity of water boxes last week, and added that other water donations are welcome.
