Caritas Luxembourg has announced that its previous Sodexo “Lunch Pass” campaign raised €17,179; a new edition of the campaign launched on Tuesday 18 July 2023.
Since July 2009, Sodexo and Caritas Luxembourg have joined forces to help families in need in Luxembourg. The last “Lunch Pass” collection campaign, both in paper and digital versions, brought in the sum of €17,179. An additional collection, organised to support the actions of Caritas in favour of victims of Russia’s war against Ukraine, is included in this figure: €4,481 was collected for this cause. Alongside this collection, Sodexo employees also showed solidarity by volunteering: they prepared cakes which they then distributed to customers.
The “Caritas Buttek” social grocery stores are currently in high demand, Caritas Luxembourg reported. Many customers cannot make ends meet at the end of the month and are therefore entitled to shop there at a low price. The “Lunch Pass” campaign provides financial support for the social grocery stores of Caritas Luxembourg and thus offers considerable help to families in need in Luxembourg. According to Caritas Luxembourg, in 2022, 5,360 people, including 1,478 children, were supported through social grocery stores.
The 2023 action will launch on 18 July 2023. As every year, employees of Sodexo client companies will find in their meal voucher envelope a flyer explaining the action as well as a postage-paid envelope addressed to Caritas Luxembourg allowing them to return their “Lunch Pass” donations. Beneficiaries of Sodexo Lunch Pass card (Sodexo electronic meal vouchers) will also be able to make donations by paying directly with their card on the Caritas website.
