Fondation Cancer has announced that it is launching the third edition of its "Sober Buddy Challenge" in Luxembourg in January 2023.
After the success of the first two editions, Fondation Cancer is offering Luxembourg residents another opportunity to take on the Sober Buddy Challenge. The goal remains the same: not to drink any alcohol from 1 to 31 January.
Alone or with a "buddy" of their choice, participants will be able to count on the support of the dedicated Facebook page throughout the challenge. Here participants will find tips, mocktail recipes and information about alcohol, as well as being able to share their experience with others.
Between personal pleasure and social pressure, not drinking alcohol can be a real challenge for many. However, according to Fondation Cancer, the Sober Buddy Challenge helped 86.5% of participants in the first two editions to change their drinking habits.
In 2021 and 2022, more than 3,700 people took on the Sober Buddy Challenge and an average of 92.5% of participants said that they were ready to repeat the experience. Participants reported several benefits linked to this challenge: 47% of participants said their sleep had improved; 33% said they had noticed weight loss; 26% said their concentration had improved.
Fondation Cancer recalled that even consumed in small quantities, alcohol is a risk factor for seven types of cancer (including breast cancer, colon cancer, mouth cancer and pharyngeal cancer).
The Sober Buddy Challenge aims to prove that participants can look after their health and still have a good time.
