Luxembourg non-profit organisation SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde has announced that it is joining the "Giving Tuesday" global campaign for the second consecutive year.

Celebrated this year on 29 November, Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement in which SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde is participating once again to raise awareness of its work for the world's most vulnerable children.

Giving Tuesday began in the United States (US) ten years ago in response to the commercialised Black Friday. Held four days after Black Friday, Giving Tuesday is dedicated to mobilisation in favour of giving and commitment to others. Various companies, organisations and individuals around the world participate in this movement each year.

For the second consecutive year, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde is associated with this event and is launching a solidarity campaign for the occasion. In 2021, this campaign was able to raise more than €7,000 to help children affected by drought and famine in Madagascar's Great South.

SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde is currently involved in development programmes (West Africa, Uzbekistan), emergency aid or resilience building projects (Colombia, Horn of Africa, Madagascar, Pakistan, Central African Republic, Sri Lanka, Ukraine) and projects with a social, educational or environmental dimension. These projects emphasise the empowerment of communities to take charge of children and respect their rights, the protection of children, especially girls, against all forms of violence, family reunification, education, healthcare, food security, nutrition, access to water, the consolidation of livelihoods, the strengthening of resilience and the fight against desertification.

The non-profit thus welcomes any donations, fundraisers and creative messages with the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #NoChildAlone, tagging @sosvemlux, as part of this campaign.
