The Bazar International de Luxembourg has announced that it recently donated €380,000 to charities all over the world and an additional €50,000 to the humanitarian relief fund of the Bazar International (Fonds d'Aide Humanitaire d'Urgence).

These funds were collected in 2021, during the main event of the Bazar International at LuxExpo The Box in Luxembourg-Kirchberg and some smaller events organised by individual stands under the flag of the Bazar International.

Especially as many charities have suffered greatly during the COVID-19 pandemic (many donation flows dried up), the Bazar International de Luxembourg has descibed the money as very welcome to continue the fight against poverty, discrimination, violence or social isolation.

Among this year’s charities are a children’s clinic that can pay for solar panels to have a regular and reliable source of energy so that operations are never jeopardised by power cuts, several orphanages that will make structural investments with the aim of becoming self-supportive and a school that will be able to build new bathrooms and toilet stalls for the 450 orphaned students that also live on the premises of the school.

Carmen Decalf, President of the Bazar International de Luxembourg, commented: "There is no one type of charity that deserves more money than another. All the charities that we approved are hugely important to those that benefit directly, and in many cases, to those that benefit indirectly. If children get to go to school, it's not just those children that benefit, it is also their families that gain from it. And what good is education if there is no health? Therefore, we also accompany education and vocational training projects with medical care and treatment programmes".

The humanitarian relief fund was established to provide ad hoc relief to victims of emergencies and natural disasters around the world. With this fund, the Bazar International can give financial assistance quickly and effectively anywhere in the world. The fund also helps support infrastructures to safely welcome Ukrainian children and young people who have arrived in Poland without accompanying adults.
