Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs today signed framework agreements with five Non-Governmental Development Organisations (NGDOs).
During a signing ceremony, Paulette Lenert, Minister of Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, signed five framework development agreements with the following NGDOs: Association Solidarité Tiers Monde (ASTM), CARE, the International Solidarity service of the Luxembourg Red Cross, ECPAT and PADEM.
The five framework agreements imply a total contribution from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of €23,929,115.04. All of these activities are co-funded by up to 60% to 80%.
Geographically, the activities of the framework agreements implemented by the NGDOs are located in 26 countries, including ten in Africa (Senegal, Madagascar, Cape Verde, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo, Burundi, Chad), eight countries in Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar) and six countries in Latin America (Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras), as well as in Kosovo and Palestine and a regional project in sub-Saharan Africa.
The activities of the signatory NGDOs focus on the following themes: combatting child sexual abuse, sex tourism and human trafficking; strengthening civil society in the field of agriculture; the supervision of newborns; food security and the eradication of hunger; access to education; access to health care; inclusion and empowerment of women; access to water and sanitation.
On the occasion of the signing, Paulette Lenert reaffirmed the importance of the engagement of civil society and NGDOs. The framework agreements represent the trust that the Ministry puts in NGDOs as a key partner in the implementation of Luxembourg Cooperation.
