On Tuesday 29 September 2026, Luxembourg-based engineering and industrial automation company, CTI Systems, announced it has established a joint venture with Chinese company Shanghai XinGuang Crane Machine Co., Ltd.
Headquartered in Lentzweiler in northern Luxembourg, CTI Systems has more than 60 years of experience and currently employs around 200 people. The company said the new joint venture with Shanghai XinGuang marks an important milestone in the development of both companies and reinforces their long-term commitment to the Chinese Aviation industry.
CTI Systems reported that the joint venture agreement was officially signed during the Luxembourg economic mission to China, in the presence of Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, highlighting the strategic importance of international partnerships and industrial cooperation between Luxembourg and China.
CTI Systems said the Joint Venture combines its expertise in engineering, industrial equipment and automation with XinGuang's strong manufacturing capabilities, local project execution experience and after-sales support network. Together, the partners aim to deliver innovative, high-value solutions that help customers achieve greater efficiency, productivity and sustainable growth.
More Than Four Decades of Presence in China
CTI Systems' history in China dates back to the early 1980s, when the company, then operating under the name Cleveland Tramrail International, supplied an automated monorail handling system to Maanshan Iron & Steel. Over the years, CTI has steadily expanded its footprint across the country, delivering solutions for leading industrial and aerospace organizations and building a reputation as a trusted partner for complex engineering projects.
A major turning point came with the introduction of CTI's patented teleplatform technology. Originally developed by CTI's parent company in 1974 and continuously refined over five generations, the teleplatform revolutionized aircraft maintenance operations by providing safe and efficient access to aircraft structures.
The first teleplatform contract in China was awarded by GAMECO in Guangzhou in 2003. This was followed by numerous projects for major customers including AMECO Beijing and Chengdu, COMAC, STARCO, China Southern Beijing, Boeing Zhoushan and HAECO, establishing CTI as a recognized supplier of specialized industrial equipment and solutions in China.
