Luxembourg's national statistical institute STATEC, in collaboration with GovTech Lab, has announced the next STATEC Hackathon will take place from Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 October 2026.

The three-day event will be held at GovTech Lab in Luxembourg City (560 Rue de Neudorf) and will bring together enthusiasts of data, technology, innovation and analysis to tackle real-world challenges for the benefit of Luxembourg.

STATEC explained that the Hackathon aims to address real-world economic and societal issues by using the wealth of statistical data. The task will be to devise innovative solutions that enable a better understanding of trends, shed light on economic and social phenomena and facilitate decision-making. The challenge brings together coding, IT expertise, data analysis and economic knowledge to go beyond the raw figures and transform them into concrete solutions for the nation’s future.

The STATEC Hackathon is open to teams of three to six participants, and is open to everyone: students, professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs and data enthusiasts. A diverse range of backgrounds is regarded by the organisers as a real asset and they encourage the formation of interdisciplinary teams to foster creativity, innovation and the development of original solutions.

STATEC said: “Whether you are a data expert, a developer, an economist, a designer or simply someone who is curious and motivated, the STATEC Hackathon is an opportunity to put your skills to work on projects that make a difference.”

Registration closes on Thursday 17 September and the organisers have advised that places are limited.
