The City of Luxembourg (VdL) has reported that the inauguration of the interactive project "Ondulations”, which animates the window of the building located at the corner of Rue Origer and Avenue de la Liberté in Luxembourg-Gare, took place on Friday 14 February 2025, in the presence of the College of the Mayor and Aldermen.
As reported by the VdL, the project transforms the window into a living experience, where digital technology reacts to the movements of passersby. Thanks to sensors, each silhouette generates subtle coloured waves, creating a constantly evolving visual ballet. Between interaction and immersion, this animation designed by the Brain&More agency explores the dynamics of urban space and the place of digital technology in our daily lives. "Ondulations" will remain in place for approximately one month.
A second installation, “Espace en flux”, will be on display from mid-March 2025. Located at the symbolic building of the Gare district situated on the corner of Rue de Strasbourg and Avenue de la Liberté (1 Rue de Strasbourg), this project, which combines history and design, will occupy the windows of the currently vacant building and will feature illustrations by designer Ruth Lorang which trace the rich past of the building that has housed the Apollo-Theater, the Casino de la Gare, the Hôtel Chicago and the Hôtel City. By scanning a QR code, passersby will be able to learn more about the history of the building by accessing texts written by historian Robert L. Philippart.
The VdL said these new projects aim to create a warm and friendly atmosphere around businesses, to strengthen the commercial attractiveness of the district and to attract a varied public. Like other initiatives, such as "Gare Grooves", the installation of new Christmas lights and decorations in the Gare district, the establishment of pop-up stores or the creation of the "Design Hub”, they are part of an overall dynamic aimed at revitalising commerce in the capital.
