The final of the fourth edition of the My First Enterprise (MFE) competition, organised by Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg (JEL), took place in digital format on Thursday 6 May 2021.

Nearly 40 teams from nine secondary schools participated in this 2020-21 edition. The sixteen best teams were selected on the basis of an application submitted and analysed beforehand by a jury made up of professionals.

Over a twelve-week period, the teams (made up of three to four students) tried to build upon their starting capital of €40 through an activity of buying and selling products and / or offering a service. Students also took Business Management training courses given by experts from Deloitte Luxembourg. D

The objectives of the programme is to develop entrepreneurial skills among young people, let them take the first steps in business management by working in groups, manage a real project, to be in contact with suppliers and consumers and prepare them for future projects such as MiniEntreprises. Students aged 15 and over and who are completing their 4th year at secondary school can participate in the programme.

The jury, composed of Petra Hazenberg (ACG Partner at Deloitte), John Psaila (Managing Partner of Deloitte Luxembourg), Anne-Marie Solvi (Director of Paul Wurth Geprolux) and Erny Huberty (Head of Corporate Marketing at Enovos Luxembourg SA), had the difficult task of choosing the three winning teams during this digital edition.

In order to determine the winners, the jury members based their decisions on the applications submitted beforehand, the originality of the project as a whole and the presentation during the final.

In order to reduce the use of plastic when buying fruit and vegetables, Maurice Hoffmann, Tom Germeaux and Gregory Herbrig marketed "Veggie-Bags", small bags made from 100% recycled cotton and from Fairtrade production.
