The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two intoxicated men were taken into protective custody in separate incidents in Luxembourg City on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 August 2026.

According to initial findings, officers were called to the entrance of Luxembourg's main railway station on Tuesday afternoon following reports of an altercation between two people. One of those involved had facial injuries but declined medical treatment. The second man was uncooperative and heavily intoxicated. As he posed a danger to himself and others, he was taken into protective custody until he had sobered up.

In a separate incident at around 06:00 on Wednesday, a police patrol spotted a heavily intoxicated man in Rue de Hollerich who was staggering across the road and shouting loudly. Despite repeated requests, he initially refused to leave the carriageway. After a medical examination, he was also taken into protective custody as he posed a danger to himself and others.
