During the general assembly of the Luxembourg Youth Hostels yesterday, Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Francine Closener detailed the projects concerning future infrastructure for youth hostels in Ettelbruck and Vianden.
The planned property in Vianden will be on the site of the former integrated centre for the elderly. Directly connected to the public transport network and located in the city centre, the youth hostel in Ettelbruck will be built in the immediate vicinity of the railway station. Both hostels will have a total capacity of more than 200 beds.
Secretary Closener said she welcomed the two new housing projects, complementing the existing offer of the national network of youth hostels. "This month, the new youth hostel in Esch-sur-Alzette, with a capacity of 110 beds, will host the first guests. Given the growing demand for youth hostel accommodation, the project of the two future hostels in the north of the country, with more than 100 extra beds each, will complement the national tourist offer for this type of accommodation.”
