On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January 2026, women’s and men’s basketball teams determined the finalists of the LALUX Ladies Cup (women) and the Loterie Nationale Coupe de Luxembourg (men) during matches at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, attended by 3,700 spectators over the two days.

In the women’s competition, Sparta Bertange will contest the trophy for the second consecutive year after last season’s final defeat to Gréngewald Hueschtert. In the semi-final, Mike Feyder’s team beat Basket Esch 75-70 after trailing by two points heading into the final quarter. Sparta quickly levelled the score but failed to pull clear, with the game tied at 70-70 one minute from the end. Decisive baskets from Adryana Michelle Quezada, who finished with 21 points, and Jenna Wolf, who added nineteen, secured the win, while Sparta captain Jordan Alexis King led all scorers with a double-double of 26 points and ten rebounds.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu after the match, Mike Feyder, head coach of Sparta Bertrange, praised his players’ resilience, saying: “We had injuries, sickness and a new player to integrate, so I’m really proud of how the team fought until the end. It wasn’t our best game, but in the last quarter we believed we could win and defensively we locked them down.” He added: “They (T71 Dudelange) are clearly the favourites, but it’s a cup final. For us, reaching the final again after so many changes is a big success and we will enjoy that day.”

Their opponents in the LALUX Ladies Cup final will be T71 Dudelange, the Enovos league leaders who remain unbeaten this season. In their semi-final, they defeated Amicale Steinsel 84-57, with the side coached by Mathieu Fivet dominating all four quarters to take a seventeen-point lead into half-time. Dudelange forward Lauren Anne Van Kleunen finished as the game’s top scorer with 20 points, while teammate Beatriz Ines Gomes Jordao recorded a double-double with twelve points and nineteen rebounds.

In the men’s competition, the most dramatic semi-final saw Sparta Bertrange face Arantia Larochette, with the outcome decided in the final minute. Bertrange led for most of the game and held a 49-35 advantage at half-time, but Arantia cut the deficit to nine points in the third quarter before moving five points clear midway through the final period. Bertrange briefly regained the lead thanks to a basket from Jarvis Terrill Williams with 28 seconds remaining (78-77), yet Michael Anthony Carter III had the final say, scoring the decisive two points to send Larochette into the final with a 79-77 victory. Arantia guard Kevon Lamar Godwin finished as the game’s top scorer with 26 points.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Karolis Abramavicius, head coach of Arantia Larochette, admitted his side did not start well but stressed the importance of the result, saying: “We didn’t begin in the best way, but the most important thing is that we finished with the win. Basketball is a game of ups and downs and of periods, and even after a bad start we had better spells later.” He also praised both teams’ efforts, adding: “I’m very happy for my players and I congratulate them, while the opponents also played a very good game.”

The second finalist will be Etzella Ettelbruck, who lost last year’s final to Basket Esch. The current Enovos League champions secured their place by defeating Amicale Steinsel 89-81 in the semi-final. Etzella trailed by two points after the first quarter but outscored their opponents in each of the remaining three periods. Team leaders Adrian Jermaine Delph and Philippe Gutenkauf combined for 49 points, scoring 26 and 23 respectively, while American forward Nicholas Thomas Davis recorded a double-double with eighteen points and fourteen rebounds.

The LALUX Ladies Cup and Loterie Nationale Coupe de Luxembourg finals will take place on Saturday 7 February 2026 at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
