The fifth edition of the LOST WEEKEND 48h film challenge competition took place this year with seventeen teams of participants registered.

After the opening of team registration on 27 January 2024, the project was at full capacity five minutes later, the organisers noted. Participants had 48 hours to make a film, namely the weekend of 1 to 3 March 2024. 72 hours later, on Wednesday 6 March, the premiere took place on the big screen of the Cinémathèque at LUXFILMFEST, followed by the presentation of eleven prizes presented by the jury and Florence Ahlborn of the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. The room was full as the following prizes were announced:

Filmreakter has just presented the fifth edition of LOST WEEKEND, the competition for short films to be made in less than 48 hours which is aimed at all budding directors, from the least experienced to the most seasoned. From Friday evening to Sunday evening, participants have had to write, direct and finalise their film in 48 hours, as part of the fourteenth edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival. The competition attracts Luxembourgish film fans and has become increasingly popular in the border region, with many participants coming from France and Germany.

LOST WEEKEND is organised by the Filmreakter network of filmmakers, in collaboration with the Luxembourg City Film Festival and with the support of the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte and ARRI Rental.

After a weekend of intense production, the final event of the project took place yesterday, in a full room and in the presence of a representative from each of the seventeen teams and the jury, composed of the musician MAZ, the visual artist Claudia Pigat, Mylène Carrière from the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA), Carole Kremer from Film Fund Luxembourg and Creative Europe MEDIA Desk and Steffen Dritter from ARRI Rental.

All films are now accessible free of charge on the website www.lostweekend.lu.

The sixth edition of the LOST WEEKEND 48h Film Challenge will take place as part of Luxfilmfest 2025.
