On Thursday 23 November, more than 200 guests gathered at the Cercle Cité for the final of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition; attended by Luxembourg’s Minister of Home Affairs, Léon Gloden and marked by the consecration of Marc Giorgetti, CEO of Félix Giorgetti.

Marc Giorgetti will also represent Luxembourg at the international final to be held in Monaco in June 2024.

The sixth edition of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 celebrates the art of entrepreneurship in Luxembourg. The competition recognises outstanding business professionals who have made a substantial impact on the economy and innovation. The independent judging panel, led by Michèle Detaille, President of FEDIL, is composed of influential business leaders.

This year's winner, Marc Giorgetti, from Felix Giorgetti Group, worked in the family business from a young age. He thereby gained knowledge of building sites and operating construction machinery. Upon finishing his studies, he returned to Luxembourg to manage the company, which was struggling at the time with a debt of £20 million and low resources. 37 years later, the Felix Giorgetti Group is a well-established company in building and property development in Luxembourg. The company has also expanded into the Horeca sector (hotel, restaurant and café business sector) and currently employs more than 1,300 individuals.

"There are many entrepreneurial success stories in Luxembourg, such as Marc Giorgetti's from Felix Giorgetti Group. Through this competition, we want to celebrate them, to highlight the stories of these people who have had the courage to take risks and who have succeeded in creating an entrepreneurial masterpiece," said Yves Even, Partner in charge of the Entrepreneur of the Year programme at EY Luxembourg.

In addition to the “Entrepreneur Of the Year” title, the jury awarded an additional prize in recognition of the career of François Tesch from the Foyer Group.

"After seven years without Entrepreneur of the Year, we felt it would be difficult to be satisfied with just one prize, so we unanimously decided to add an award in recognition of François Tesch's exceptional career," noted Carole Muller, CEO of Fischer bakeries and President of the Luxembourg Confederation.

The "EY Entrepreneur Of The Year" programme, has been operating in more than 60 countries for over 30 years. The initiative aims to reward and inspire entrepreneurs for their contribution to growth and competitiveness.
