The National Youth Service (Service national de la jeunesse - SNJ) has announced the launch of the first edition of “Kannerpräis” (children’s prize) in Luxembourg.

According to SNJ, the objective of the “Kannerpräis” is to promote the projects of education and care services carried out with children, to make them more visible and to generate new inspiration, thus allowing the development of quality projects.

The projects carried out in the non-formal education sector are numerous and varied; it is possible to submit applications in four thematic categories (“My commitment”, “My opinion”, “My identity” and “My health”) which represent this diversity with two age groups: the “Mini-heroes” for projects carried out with children aged zero to four years old and the “Heroes” for children aged four to twelve years old.

A jury of experts makes an initial selection and a jury of children (aged eight to twelve years) will make the final decision by democratically nominating the winners and awarding the second and third places. The children's jury will be organised under the slogan “Deng Meenung zielt” (your opinion counts).

The trophy presentation will be organised on 4 May 2024 at Abbaye de Neumünster as part of the Children’s Festival.

Applications can be submitted until 31 January 2024 on the kannerprais.lu website.
