Rotondes, together with the law firm Alen & Overy today awarded the Luxembourg Encouragement for Artists Prize (LEAP) to the artist Laurianne Bixhain.

Laurianne Bixhain received the LEAP award this evening at the opening of the exhibition of the same name, taking place from 23.03.18 - 15.04.18. The exhibition also brings together finalists Yann Annicchiarico, Filip Markiewicz and Marianne Mispelaere.

The verdict was announce following long deliberations between the five jurors Alexandre Bohn, director of the FRAC Poitou-Charentes, Zoë Gray, senior curator at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Wiels de Bruxelles, Patrick Majerus, collector in Luxembourg, Estelle Pietrzyk, curator in chief at the Musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg and Fabien Schöneich, curator in Frankfurt am Main. On this occasion, Laurianne Bixhain won the prize of €12,500 euros, provided by Allen & Overy.

The work of the passionate young photographer Laurianne Bixhain focuses on the notion of mobility, roads and other means of communication, our relationship to technology and light, but also to the appearance and touch surfaces and materials or the sensuality of the image.

Awarded every two years, LEAP aims to increase the visibility of contemporary artists in connection with the Grand Duchy and to support them in their professionalisation process.

The works of Laurianne Bixhain and the three other finalists will be shown at the LEAP exhibition, open from Thursday to Sunday between 23 March and 15 April 2018 at Rotondes.
