Melia Luxembourg today announced it has successfully achieved Gold level in the TripAdvisor Green Leaders Programme.

Created in cooperation with the US Green Building Council and the Environmental Protection Agency, this award selects “green” hotels with exceptional environmental projects and eco-friendly standards around the world, making it easier for travelers to choose conscientiously an accommodation during a trip.

Waste recycling, the use of energy-saving devices and actions encouraging guests to reuse towels and sheets are amongst the criteria for qualifying for the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum status. Recognised for the third year in a row within the Gold category, Melia Luxembourg had reinforced its environmental commitment with the prestigious Ecolabel of the Grand-Duchy’s Ministry of Tourism recently.

The awarded hotel belongs to the portfolio of Melia Hotels International and was built in 2009 by Luxembourgish architect Jim Clemes. It is located in Kirchberg’s Quartier Européen Sud between the European institutions and mayor cultural hubs, such as the Philharmonie and the Museum of Modern Art MUDAM.

Melia Hotels International is one of the largest hotel companies in the world and the largest hotel chain in Spain.
