The Luxembourg Athletics Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise d'Athlétisme - FLA) has announced the participants and key details of the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver event, which will take place on Sunday 18 January 2026 at the Coque National Sports and Culture Centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

According to the FLA, the upcoming edition will feature 158 athletes from 41 countries across five continents, including seventeen world champions (across indoor, relay and university categories) and 28 European champions. In total, athletes competing at the meeting hold more than 65 major international medals from European and World Championships, with twelve events scheduled on the programme.

Leaders of the Luxembourg national team will also be among those competing, including sprinter Patrizia Van der Weken, who will race in the 60m and 200m events. She is a double indoor world and European medallist in 2025 (60m). The meeting will also feature distance runner Ruben Querinjean, an Olympic athlete in the 3000m steeplechase, 2025 World University Champion and tenth-place finisher at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

“I’m really looking forward to being in the arena. The atmosphere was great last year. The move to indoor racing is quite new for me, and I don’t yet know my level over 3,000m. There was a short transition from cross-country, which requires volume, to the track, which demands much more intensity. It’s another objective this season; we’ll see how it goes and maybe even get closer to Charel Grethen’s record over the distance,” said Ruben Querinjean.

Among the international athletes taking part, spectators will notably see Elie Bacari (Belgium), the Belgian record holder in the 60m hurdles, who clocked a time of 7.51 at last year’s CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting.

The international field will also include several established European and world-level athletes. Over 200m, Jessica-Bianca Wessolly (Germany), the meeting record holder and winner of the previous edition, will line up alongside Luxembourg’s Patrizia Van der Weken.

Among the other confirmed competitors are Jean-Paul Bredau (Germany), a European Championships bronze medallist in the 400m, and Jakub Szymanski (Poland), European indoor champion and defending winner of the 60m hurdles.

In addition, other athletes from the Grand Duchy will also be competing across a range of disciplines. These include hurdler Victoria Rausch (60m hurdles), the Luxembourg national indoor record holder in 100m hurdles, as well as middle-distance runners Fanny Arendt and Jory Teixeira (800m), and Linda Krombach (1500m).

The federation added that Mathis Espagnet (800m), who was initially entered, has been forced to withdraw after contracting mononucleosis in October and not recovering sufficiently to compete at this level. Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann (1500m) has also opted to skip the meeting in order to focus on her preparation following two demanding seasons, while remaining involved in the event’s organisation and communication.
