On Tuesday 28 January 2025, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) issued a statement in relation to the delayed deployment of emergency services following a fatal road accident that occurred over the weekend.

The CGDIS noted that the CSU-112 emergency call centre received a call at 18:06 on Saturday 25 January 2025. The caller reported a road accident that left two people injured at the Knauf Shopping Center Schmiede in Huldange (municipality of Troisvierges).

Due to a misunderstanding at the CSU-112, the initial resources of the CGDIS were dispatched to the wrong address. It therefore took the CGDIS first responders 27 minutes to arrive on-site to take care of the two victims.

As reported previously, one of the victims, a pedestrian who had been hit by a car, suffered serious injuries and passed away in hospital on Sunday 26 January 2025.

The CGDIS assured it was currently investigating the case internally in order to "draw the necessary lessons and consequences".
