The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) has reported that a major fire broke out at the Goodyear site in Colmar-Berg on Monday 20 January 2025.
Shortly before 14:00 on Monday, the emergency services were alerted to a fire at the Goodyear production site in Colmar-Berg. On-site, firefighters were confronted with a fire that had affected two production machines used to transform raw materials in the manufacture of tyres. The fire had also already spread to an adjacent filtering facility.
While the extinguishing work on the filters "quickly bore fruit", the extinguishing of the production lines lasted until the end of the afternoon. Throughout the intervention, the CGDIS counted on the support of the operator and the factory firefighters.
The crews of five ambulances supported by two SAMU teams and a health officer were also faced with 23 factory employees who had potentially inhaled smoke during their evacuation. After an initial on-site check-up, eleven people were taken for a more in-depth medical check in the country's three hospital structures.
A total of 120 firefighters were mobilised for this intervention, including drone and NRBC specialties as well as the supply unit of the logistics support centre.
