The Grand Ducal Police have reported a number of arrests which occurred across Luxembourg on Saturday 16 August 2025, for various crimes, including burglary and the breaching of restraining orders.

On the morning of Saturday 16 August 2025, the police received a report of an attempted burglary at a detached house on Rue Edward Steichen in Bivingen. According to initial information, the perpetrator attempted to gain entry to the property but was disturbed in the garden area by the homeowner’s dog barking and subsequently fled. During the course of an investigation, the suspect was later apprehended. He was arrested on the instructions of the public prosecutor and on the morning of 17 August 2025 was brought before the investigating judge.

On the afternoon of Saturday 16 August 2025, the police were informed that a man, despite a restraining order, had returned to the flat of his former partner in Welfrange, resulting in a dispute and physical altercation. The victim subsequently fled and later discovered upon her return that her ex-partner had stolen her mobile phone and credit cards. During the course of an investigation, the suspect was apprehended. He was arrested on the instructions of the public prosecutor and was brought before the investigating judge on the afternoon of Sunday 17 August 2025.

Also, on the afternoon of Saturday 16 August 2025, a man was reported to be at a residential address in Esch-sur-Alzette, in breach of a restraining order. During the course of an investigation, the suspect was apprehended. He was arrested on the instructions of the public prosecutor and was brought before the investigating judge on the morning of Sunday 17 August 2025.

Moreover, on the evening of Saturday 16 August 2025, a police patrol on Rue de Hollerich, in the capital’s station district, observed an exchange of an item between two men, which was initially suspected to be a drug deal. It later emerged that the item was a bottle of perfume. However, during the subsequent check, one of the men was found to be in possession of a small quantity of cocaine and cash and further investigations revealed that a European arrest warrant had been issued against him. The public prosecutor was informed and ordered his arrest. The suspect was brought before the investigating judge on the morning of Sunday 17 August 2025.
