On Tuesday 19 August 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported that multiple passengers were found to be in possession of false documents on two recent flights which originated from Athens, Greece.

According to the police, on Tuesday 5 August 2025, officers from the Airport Police Unit, along with officials from the Customs and Excise Administration, carried out passenger checks on a flight arriving from Athens at Luxembourg Airport. 

The flight had 133 passengers, of whom 35 were subjected to checks. During these checks, eight individuals found in possession of false documents were apprehended.

On Thursday 7 August 2025, during another check on a flight arriving from Athens, 50 passengers were screened. Seven of them were found in possession of false documents and one non-EU national did not hold a visa.

The Public Prosecutor was informed following the checks and ordered the seizure of the documents and the drawing up of official reports.
