The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a 43-year-old resident died in a apartment fire in Bonnevoie on Sunday evening.
The alarm was raised shortly after 23:30 when smoke was reported coming from an apartment building on Rue de Wiltz in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
The emergency services discovered that there had been a fire on the upper floor. During the subsequent fire brigade operation, a 43-year-old resident was discovered lifeless inside the apartment by the emergency services.
The extinguishing work continued until the early hours of the morning. Since the building was no longer habitable due to the fire, the other residents were temporarily accommodated by the municipal administration of the Ville de Luxembourg.
The public prosecutor's office commissioned the police authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
