Snowfall Forecast for Wednesday

Luxembourg's weather portal, MeteoLux, has issued a nationwide weather warning for snow and ice on Wednesday 17 January and Thursday 18 January 2024.

While we have had light snowfalls on a few days already this winter, including on Monday 15 January 2024, Wednesday’s forecast is for heavier snowfalls.

The yellow and orange warnings (representing "potential danger" and “danger” respectively) arrive in the context of ongoing snowfall witnessed across the Grand Duchy in the past few days. The yellow warning will be in place in the south of Luxembourg from 06:00 on Wednesday to 00:00 on Thursday. During this time, 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow is expected, although it is not certain how much snow is currently still present.

The orange warning will be in place in the north of Luxembourg from 06:00 on Wednesday to 00:00 on Thursday. During this time, 15 to 20 cm of fresh snow is expected.

An orange warning for ice will be in place across the country (due to expected freezing rain), from 07:00 to 16:00 on Wednesday 17 January 2024.
