The Grand Ducal Police have reported that across Thursday 29 and into the early hours of Friday 30 October 2026, they identified several violations of the Road Traffic Act during various traffic checks across Luxembourg.

On Thursday morning, police received a report of a suspected drunk driver in Rue de Luxembourg in Bour, who had previously been driving a vehicle. A police patrol located the man a short time later in Rue de Folschette in Pratz. He was alone in the passenger seat of the vehicle concerned and showed clear signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test returned a positive result. Further checks also revealed that the man's driving licence had previously been revoked due to driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle was subsequently seized and an official report was drawn up.

During another check in Rumelange that morning, officers discovered that a driver's vehicle had not been properly registered for several months. In addition, it did not have a valid roadworthiness certificate or valid insurance. The vehicle was seized on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

In the early evening, at around 18:00, police received reports in quick succession of two vehicles travelling erratically, one on Route de Luxembourg in Gonderange and the other on Route de Gilsdorf in Diekirch. One of the vehicles had repeatedly mounted the pavement. Police patrols stopped and checked the drivers concerned. Both breathalyser tests returned positive results. The driver in Gonderange was issued with a provisional driving ban. In the second case, in Diekirch, the vehicle was parked and the driver's keys were temporarily confiscated.

Later that evening, at around 20:15, police officers noticed another vehicle in Rue des Champs in Tuntangewhose driver spun the wheels while leaving a petrol station. The vehicle was stopped a short time later. During the check, officers detected the smell of alcohol on the driver's breath. The breathalyser test also returned a positive result and an official report was drawn up.

During the night of Thursday into Friday, a police patrol noticed a vehicle driving erratically on the CR132 between Roeser and Weiler-la-Tour. The car was travelling at excessive speed and at times crossed into the oncoming lane. During the subsequent check, the driver's breathalyser test returned a positive result. It was also established that the vehicle's roadworthiness certificate was no longer valid. The vehicle was subsequently immobilised.

The relevant official reports were drawn up or fixed-penalty notices were issued.
