Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security has confirmed the adaptation of social parameters as of 1 January 2024.
Although the index remains unchanged (since September 2023) at 944.43, various social parameters have been updated. The ministry noted that, in application of the current legislation, these changes concern new pensions awarded in 2024 and the upper limits of annual income for the cost-of-living allowance and energy bonus.
Both the minimum personal pension and the minimum surviving spouse pension have increased from €2,219.71 to €2,244.82 (up by €25.11). The maximum personal pension has gone from €10,276.43 to 10.392,67 (up by €116.24).
Flat-rate increases (for 40 years of contributions) reached €619.82 (up €9.70 from €610.12).
The minimum orphan's pension rose from €605.77 to €612.86 (up by €7.09).
The end-of-year allowance (1/12) for a 40-year career increased from €79.02 to €79.91 (up by €0.89).
Exempted professional income (survivor's pensions) also went up (by €18.6), from €1,644.23 to €1,662.83.
In addition the annual income upper limits for the cost-of-living allowance and the energy bonus have been revised. For the former, the upper limit for one person has increased from €27,730.85 to €30,939.53 and for a second person from €14,365.43 to €15,469.76. The upper limit then increases by €9,281.86 (up from €8,619.25) for each additional person.
For the energy bonus, the upper limit for one person has risen from €35,913.56 to €38,674.41 and for a second person from €17,956.78 to €19,337.20. For each additional person, this increases by €11,602.32 (up from €10,774.07).
The gross minimum monthly wage remains unchanged at €2,570.93 for unskilled workers (aged 18+) and €3,085.11 for skilled workers (aged 18+). STATEC has foreseen a new wage indexation for the third quarter of 2024.
