Luxembourg's High Commission for National Protection (Haut-Commissariat à la protection nationale - HCPN) has reported that the Grand Duchy will maintain its terrorism threat level 2 ("medium") following recent incidents in neighbouring countries.
After recent terror attacks such as those in France and Belgium, the Anti-Terrorism Coordination Group (Groupe de coordination en matière de lutte contre le terrorisme - GCT) met at the request of the Prime Minister of Luxembourg to assess the threat on the national territory.
According to the GCT, there is currently no evidence to suggest that there is a "probable and concrete threat" in Luxembourg. Consequently, threat level 2 will remain in force. In accordance with the VIGILNAT plan, level 2 is triggered when the terrorist threat is "judged to be real, but abstract".
The GCT has updated the list of "sensitive sites and events" and assured it would continue to monitor the situation.
