The Luxembourg Government will continue the implementation of its strategy for testing the public warning system by carrying out its monthly test of the network of sirens on Monday 1 May 2023.
The national warning system test wll be via a zonal alert SMS and a national test message on the GouvAlert mobile application.
The SMS to be sent out will concern those present in the following municipalities: Clervaux, Parc Hosingen, Putscheid, Troisvierges, Vianden, Weiswampach and Wincrange.
Only people whose mobile phones are connected to a mobile phone base station in the aforementioned areas at the time the alert is issued will receive the following SMS: "LU-ALERT / ALERTE TEST / NO ACTION REQUIRED / AUCUNE ACTION REQUISE / KEINE HANDLUNG ERFORDERLICH / INFOS: GD.LU/LU-ALERT".
The authorities noted that no personal data will be collected or stored by the state as part of these tests. In order to differentiate between real and test alert messages, the text "No action required / Aucune action requise / Keine Handlung erforderlich" will only be mentioned in test messages.
A certain delay may elapse between the sending and the reception of the test SMS, which explains why not everyone will receive the test message at the same time.
The objective of the tests is to ensure the functionality of the different alert channels, to identify any points for improvement and to make citizens aware of using the different alert channels. The long-term, regular test strategy follows the objective of ensuring the resilience of the population in the face of emergency or crisis situations which could have an impact on civil security.
