On Easter Monday, 10 April 2023, the village of Nospelt in the west of the Grand Duchy held its traditional East Market, Émaischen, at which around 20 stands were in operation.

Open from 10:00, people started to arrive, mostly by shuttle bus (navette) from Kehlen: by midday, thousands of people had ventured out in the bright and (relatively) warm spring day, with many, many more people expected to arrive in the afternoon.

The main attraction was the stands selling "Péckvillercher", ceramic bird whistles, for which new designs are produced each year. Other ceramic designs were olso on sale, featuring different animals, etc., as well as ceramic cooking pots and serving dishes.

Traditional meals were served in the marquee in the centre of the town where musical entertainments was also provided by the local brass band. At both ends of the cordoned-off village, foodtrucks and friteries had set up offering burgers, sausages (grillwursts, etc.) and chips, with drinks also available, many people enjoying crémant or beer in the outdoors from mid-morning.

A potter was attracting families as he demonstrated using moulds and his potter's wheel to create different pieces, with children also availing of the bouncy castles. And the Easter Bunny also made an appearance...

The village museum was open, with many people waiting patiently to enter. A guard in Roman attire guarded the entrance...

One of the more surprising omissions was that of stands of the political parties, particularly as this is election year. Maybe they were all in Luxembourg City which also held its annual Émaischen yesterday, with 80+ stands being involved.
