The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has announced details of statistics recorded over the Pentecost weekend regarding visitors to the capital city and its main tourism attractions.

Over the four-day weekend, from 3 to 6 June 2022, the LCTO recorded no fewer than 1,683 arrivals at its tourist reception office located in Place Guillaume II. The number of visitors reached 80% of pre-pandemic (i.e. 2019) figures, thus confirming the growing trend observed over Easter and giving the LCTO cause for optimism for the upcoming summer season.

In terms of the countries of residence of tourists, visitors from Germany were the most numerous with a total of 592 people, followed by 315 French visitors, 178 Luxembourg residents, 157 Dutch visitors and 97 Belgian visitors.

Pétrusse Casemates

After upgrading and enhancement work, the Pétrusse Casemates reopened to the public under a new concept on Sunday 5 June 2022. The first group of visitors on Sunday met with Marc Angel, President of the LCTO, and Tom Bellion, Director of the LCTO. From 5 to 6 June 2022, the occupancy rate of available places was 97%.

Guided tours

During the four days in question, the LCTO organised six guided tours, including the "City Promenade" and the "Wenzel Circuit" tours as well as visits to the national football and rugy stadium, the Stade de Luxembourg.

Digital aspect

From 3 to 6 June 2022, the LCTO recorded a total of 43,280 page views by 15,208 visitors to the luxembourg-city.com website, which represents a 46% increase in visitors compared to 2019.
