The Grand Ducal Police confirmed that a large-scale check of the trains at the train station in Luxembourg-Hollerich was carried out on Thursday 21 April 2022, between 10:00 and 14:00, as part of the fight against drug-related crimes.

Eighteen police officers, supported by a police dog handler and four dog handlers from the customs administration, were involved in the operation.

A total of six people were found illegally staying in the Grand Duchy and thus violating immigration legislation on six trains checked. In this regard, alien police reports were set up and protocols were drawn up against the persons. According to the immigration department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, one person was accommodated in the departure centre (centre de rétention) on the orders of the latter.

Criminal charges were filed against two of a total of 25 people who were struck by the drug sniffer dogs for possession of small amounts of drugs.

One person was identified and a record of their detriment was drawn up by securing stolen items in their possession.

Two people were also found who were on the national wanted list because of an administrative service.
