On the afternoon of Saturday 2 April 2022, the Grand Ducal Police were called out to an incident at a shopping centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
According to initial information, a customer at a checkout had shouted provocatively; when they were confronted by another customer, they pulled out a pepper spray cannister and attacked the second customer with it. Another two people were also hit during the disturbance.
When the police arrived, they found the alleged perpetrator with the store's security staff and took them to the police station. Following an order of the public prosecutor, the person was arrested and was brought before a judge on Sunday.
The three people affected by the pepper spray received first aid on site from the shopping centre staff.
