The Grand Ducal Police has reported that, during the past two weeks, they carried out around 600 checks across the Grand Duchy to ensure compliance with the legal provisions against the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to the rules relating to the curfew (around 260 checks) and large groups assembling, these checks also focused on controls within shopping centres and other commercial activities, as well as their sanitary concepts.

Between 29 March and 11 April 2021, around 360 people were fined; around 270 fines resulted from violation of the curfew in place between 23:00 and 06:00.

For example, during a check on 3 April 2021, two cars were stopped for being on the road for no valid reason despite the curfew. An additional five pedestrians were found to be outside during the curfew for no valid reason. Police issued a total of ten fines.

Furthermore, in 27 cases, police officers the officials had to create a report for non-compliance for the responsible authorities, among other things in the context of gatherings of people in the private as well as public sectors or because restaurants or cafes failed to adhere to the regulations.
