A resident of an apartment in Sandweiler has been hospitalised with what have been described as life-threatening injuries following a fire in their apartment in Senningerberg in the early hours of St Stephen's Day, 26 December.

The alarm was raised at around 04:00 concerning a fire in a second-floor apartment on Rue du Golf in Senningerberg.

The emergency rescue services arrived at the scene and quickly extinguished the fire as soon as the resident had been rescued for the apartment. All other residents of the apartment block were brought to safety. The injured person was first treated on site by the emergency doctor and the emergency services, and was then transported to hospital by ambulance.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Grand Ducal Police has been asked to investigate the cause of the fire by the public prosecutor.
