House searches conducted by police following a ten-week investigation by the Drug Department of the Service de Recherche et d'Enquete (SREC) Luxembourg has culminated in the confiscation of 900 grams of heroin and €12,000 in cash, the Grand Ducal Police reported Friday.
The drug ring was described by Police as "well-organised", with member dealers selling high quality heroin at dumping prices in the Gare district of Luxembourg City. Over the course of the last ten weeks, nine suspected heroin dealers were identified, with house searches in Luxembourg, Esch/Alzette and Oberkorn beginning earlier last week.
A total of 900 grams of the Class A drug was uncovered during the house raids, with an equivalent street value of around €21,000. €12,000 in drug sales money was also found, but the investigation determined that a significant amount of the money earned from the heroin sales was moved abroad.
The arrested suspects were brought before the examining magistrate.
