On Tuesday, 1 December 2015, the Ville de Luxembourg held a reception in the Cercle Cité on Place d'Armes in honour of new citizens of the capital having recently acquired Luxembourgish nationality.
During 2014, a total of 2,142 persons acquired Luxembourg nationality, including 473 by naturalisation and 1,669 and by recovery procedure, i.e. they were able to claim Luxembourgish nationality through parental or birth links.
From 1 January until 30 October 2015, 2,591 people applied for Luxembourgish nationality, including 450 by naturalisation and 2,141 by recovery procedure.
Of these 450, 13 were British, 3 were Dutch, 2 were Finnish, 3 were Indian, 1 was Irish, 3 were American, 2 were Danish, 1 was Canadian, 1 was Icelandic, 1 was from New Zealand and 1 was Swedish.
