On Friday 20 November 2015, Luxembourg's Minister of Interior, Dan Kersch, and the Director of Administration of the Emergency Services, Paul Schroeder, officiated at the official awards ceremony for voluntary members of the Civil Protection and Fire Brigade service.
At the ceremony at the Al Seeërei hall in Diekirch, Minister Kersch, Paul Schroeder and Marc Mamer, president of the National Federation of Firefighters, congratulated the participants for their attendance, their interest and commitment.
In his speech, Minister Kersch stressed the importance of ongoing training and development, to enable maintenance of skills, adaptation of functions as well as the acquisition and updating of specialist skills. Minister Kersch also stressed that the level of training would be adapted to match at least one of the professional firefighters of the City of Luxembourg.
After completion of the construction of the new Fire and Rescue Centre (CNIS), scheduled for 2020, including the National Emergency Training Institute (INFS), the training activities will be consolidated in the new centre of fire rescue run by the City of Luxembourg.
A total of 488 participants successfully completed the various courses that were organised at local and regional levels by the national fire department and rescue school, as well as the National School of Civil Protection.
