Early on Saturday afternoon, the Grand Ducal police were called to the Hotel Simoncini on Rue Notre Dame in Luxembourg city centre following a report of a person acting  suspiciously.

The roads around the hotel, located close to Place Guillaume II, were blocked off from 15:00 as the police established a cordon as they sealed off the area. Their information was that the woman in question could be carrying explosives. She was located a short time later by the police and questioned, before being arrested and brought to a nearby police station.

Meanwhile, her suitcase that had aroused suspicions was examined by a special until of the criminal police. They determined that the suitcase contained no suspicious material or dangerous objects.

The woman was released a short time later into the case of medical professionals for a psychiatric examination as the police suspected that she may be mentally disturbed. At around 18:30 the cordon was lifted and traffic was allowed back onto the surrounding roads.
