On Friday 25 September 2015, Klaus Jensen was inaugurated as the new Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Trier, in a ceremony conducted by Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn.
Klaus Jensen was appoinsted Honorary Consul of Luxembourg in Trier by Grand Ducal Order of 14 June 2015, and holds jurisdiction over the 'Territorialer Zuständigkeitsbereich der Struktur -und Genehmigungsdirektion Nord im Land Rheinland-Pfalz', the former administrative districts of Trier and Koblenz.
At the ceremony, Minister Asselborn thanked Klaus' predecessor, Franz Peter Basten, for his dedication and exemplary work in representing the interests of Luxembourg since 2007, when he was appointed. The Minister then welcomed the appointment of Klaus Jensen, who was Mayor of Trier from April 2007 to March 2015.
Klaus Jensen's new position is expected to actively and dynamically promote the interests of the Grand Duchy by facilitating contacts at all levels, including the economic and cultural areas in Rhineland-Palatinate.
