Luxembourg's World Heart Day to Hold Lectures and Workshops in Fight Against Cardiovascular Disease

In conjunction with the 2015 edition of World Heart Day, the Luxembourg Society of Cardiology (SLC) will be organising an event here in Luxembourg on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September 2015, to fight against cardiovascular disease through the provision of information, screenings and prevention measures and messages.

Luxembourg's World Heart Day will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, and will be focused on the motto of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 'To Reduce the Burden of Cardio Vascular Disease in Europe' and the example from the World Heart Federation of 'Heart Choices, Not Hard Choices'.

The Luxembourg Society of Cardiology, presided over by Dr. Jean Beissel, FESC, was founded in 2004 and became a member of ESC in the same year. The event, designed to help citizens keep their hearts health, will take place over two days.

Wednesday 30 September 2015:

Public Awareness Day: Hall of CHL Centre, Centre Hospitalier Luxembourg (CHL) - 4 Rue Barblé L-1210 Luxembourg from 09:00 to 16:00.

Educational workshops and information stands
- Measuring risk factors: blood pressure - cholesterol - blood sugar
- Video Information: HTA - sport and the heart - pollution - diabetes - prevention
- Quiz courses: cardiac arrest - atrial fibrillation - tobacco.

Other associations, engaged in the fight against cardiovascular disease factors, have joined the occasion, including the Blëtz association; the Maison du Diabète; Den 'i'; Tsara Fo; the Association luxembourgeoise des groupes sportifs cardiaques; and the Luxembourg Institute of Heart.

The event was organised in partnership with the Division de la médecine préventive of the Direction de la Santé and with the Luxembourg Resuscitation Council (LRC).
