In anticipation of any potential farmers protests in the context of the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries on Monday 14 and 15 September 2015, the Luxembourg authorities will put measures in place to prevent demonstrations.
The subject has been a topic of discussion in Luxembourg recently after around sixty tractors converged in Luxembourg City on 1 September in protest of falling milk prices. The meeting of Agriculture Ministers is expected to tackle the issue of ailing dairy and pigmeat sectors in Europe, and could therefore potentially be the focus of a second protest.
In case this should happen again, the Grand Ducal Police have prepared a security perimeter around Place de l'Europe which will comprise the conference centre, Tour A, the Schuman building, the Philharmonie and the Hôtel Melia.
