Minister of Culture for Luxembourg, Maggy Nagel, today opened the 11th RURALIA symposium on 'Religious Sites, Worship and Rituals in Medieval Rural Areas'.
The conference, which will be held in Clervaux until 13 September 2015, brings together 110 experts from Luxembourg and the world. RURALIA was founded in 1994 as an international association dedicated to the archaelogy of habitat and rural life in the Middle Ages, and is comprised of the majority of countries of Europe.
"Despite its modest size, the Luxembourg territory has several medieval sies which can illustrate and enhance your scientific exchanges," commented Minister Nagel, after congratulating the organisers for their choice of theme.
The Minister has reportedly welcomed complementary approaches which see archaelogists and historians debate together on shared topics, a scientific approach which the Ministry of Culture claimed should be promoted and encouraged.
