The heavy rains that began to hit the Grand Duchy in the early hours of this morning caused the roof of a building in Echternach to collapse.

At around 09:00, a heavy downpour resulted in the roof of a factory building in the industrial zone of Echternach to cave in on itself when the structure was no longer able to support the weight of the water.

One person was subsequently injured in the collapse and taken to hospital, and firefighters from Grevenmacher, Mopach, Konsdorf, Rosport, Vianden and Larochette, as well as the Protection Civile and SAMU arrived on the scene to deal with the aftermath.

Initial reports from the Grand Ducal Police suggest there have been no fatalities, and that damage was mostly material.
