A fourth outbreak of avian influenza was confirmed at a poultry farm in Rollingen / Mersch today, where all poultry belonging to the farm were consequently euthanised.

Following earlier identified outbreaks, a national prohibition on all transport or exposure of live poultry remains in force.

Exceptionally, the transport of poultry directly to the slaughterhouse or from abroad to a holding may be authorised, subject to prior individual authorisation from the Veterinary Services Administration.

As stated before, it is recommended that poultry be kept indoors where all feeding and watering must be carried out.

Any suspicion of avian influenza, such as abnormal mortality, reduced consumption of food or water, fall in laying rates, should be reported to a veterinarian.
