Luxembourg's Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade have reported that the Grand Duchy recently facilitated the transport of three Palestinian patients from Romania to France for lifesaving medical treatment.

On Wednesday 19 March 2025, Luxembourg Air Rescue transported three Palestinian patients from Bucharest to France, as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, to receive lifesaving medical treatment. Each patient was accompanied by two relatives to ensure adequate medical monitoring and safe transport, noted the ministries.

These patients had initially been evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Bucharest by the Romanian authorities. Luxembourg handled their onward transfer to France.

This mission was carried out at the request of the EU's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC). Luxembourg Air Rescue provided the transport, using flight hours dedicated to medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) of the emergency.lu system.

Co-funded by Luxembourg's Foreign Ministry and the European Union, this operation was carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS).
