Luxembourg's Chamber of Commerce is set to lead a trade mission to Canada, aiming to capitalise on the momentum built during the official mission in 2022; the business delegation will head to Montreal and Toronto from 27 to 31 October 2024 and will comprise 40 participants, including representatives from sixteen companies and numerous institutions.

Luxembourg seeks to strengthen its business ties with Canada across strategic sectors and with key partnerships.

Further to the synergies identified between the priorities of the Luxembourg and the Canadian ecosystems, the mission will focus on space, cybersecurity and defence. These sectors also mirror the strategic priorities of the Chamber of Commerce, which has recently set up working groups to develop opportunities for companies in these fields.

The Chamber of Commerce aims to strengthen its relations with the Canadian economy in strategic domains. After the success of our last multi-sectoral mission in 2022, this time we are targeting specific sectors to notably forge links with Canada’s key industry partners”, explained Carlo Thelen, CEO/Director General of the Chamber of Commerce.

Through this trade mission, the Chamber of Commerce has expanded its network in Canada by collaborating with key institutions such as the Chambre de Commerce du Montréal métropolitain, the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, and key industry organisations such as INSEC-M (cybersecurity), Aéro Montréal (space) and CADSI (defence).

A Strong Luxembourgish Delegation

The Luxembourg delegation includes major companies in the space/defence and cyber sectors, ranging from startups to corporates that are keen on tapping new opportunities and on developing partnerships in Canada.

This strong delegation is a result of a fruitful collaboration with key institutions, such as the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Canada and the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in New York.

A Robust Programme

In both Montreal and Toronto, the Luxembourg delegation will participate in business fora, workshops and B2B sessions, complemented by high-level networking receptions. Visits to major industry players, including MDA Space, Bombardier, NordSpace and the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, have also been scheduled.

A significant milestone of this mission will be Luxembourg’s participation in the InCyber Forum North America in Montreal. This event showcases the importance of the cybersecurity sector in Canada. It will provide a unique opportunity for Luxembourgish cybersecurity companies to present their expertise on an international stage. Luxembourg is organising a pavilion at the Incyber Forum Europe in Lille and is looking forward to exploring its North American edition in the framework of this mission.
